Wind Turbine
November 12th, 2007Fantastic I now have the turbine up and running. After many weeks of in-activity the brakes are off and it's all connected. The small 1K inverter (converts 48v battery supply to mains) is powering a freezer and some outside lights at the moment.Battery storage as you can see is large and should be good for about 12KW hours this install is temporary and is not my usual standard. The large switch shorts out the supply from the turbine which acts as a break this is a handy feature if you need to work near the thing in high wind or if you just want to protect it from high winds. If the batteries are full surplus energy is burned in the controller so why not turn the turbine off.In future surplus energy will be dumped into hot water tank before it is burned off.No wind today but Sunday all them lovely watts just poured in see pictures I was getting between 6A-18A that’s around 300-900 watts!
PS the blured picture of the controller shows about 9 A and the battery voltage is about 50V home brew wine is not essential to the install.
